Mersin is a city on the Mediterranean coast in southern Turkey, with an urban population of around 1 million.

Metro construction officially launched on 3 Jan 2022:

- first stage linking Mezitli to the old coach station (3 Ocak Kent Maydani) near the railway station (Gar), mostly paralleling the coast line: 11 stations, 13.4 km.

 Projects

- Tram loop: from Yenisehir Fairground / University metro station along 34th Street to the University Hospital, University and GMK Boulevard (11 km).

- Metro Stage 2 : northeastern extension up to the City Hospital and the new bus station (10.5 km).
